If you have kids or know someone who has or is about to have one, then you have probably been to this amazing shop in Downtown SB. Originally founded by Paula Bouma, Chicken Little has been a beloved Santa Barbara institution since 1979. Since then this family-owned store has grown from humble beginnings into a premier destination for all baby and kids’ products. Today, Chicken Little continues to uphold a tradition of exceptional customer service, community spirit, and an unwavering commitment to families.

Jenny, mother of 3 (15, 12, and 5), and her incredibly helpful & friendly staff know everything there is to know about childhood; from the how the Nuna adapter works with the UPPAbaby stroller, to the complex lego cities your six year old is obsessed with, and everything in between, and we are so lucky to have this incredible resource in our town.

So, join us as we catch up with Jenny on a busy Wednesday afternoon to ask her a few important questions ;)

What is your number one piece of advice for Santa Barbara parents?

We are so lucky in this town that we have such a diverse offering of activities. It’s not like other towns where you go there and you’re like “if you don’t play football, or basketball you’ve got nothing to do.” There are so many things to do here, like aerial, trapeze… you can find your kids thing. It’s cool that you can find your kids jam. I tell families to not be afraid to have your kids try something you maybe didn’t try when you were a kid.

So, what are the “hot new things” to do in town for kids?

Definitely aerial, trapeze, and cooking classes!

What is your go-to kids place for all ages?

I just love Charles at My Gym.

What is your favorite family friendly business in town, where they accommodate kids?

Shoreline Beach Cafe

What do you need the most help with as an SB parent?

Organizing my schedule!

What are the most popular purchases at Chicken Little?

Birthday Presents

What is the best gift to buy for kids this summer?

Mad Matter or Magnatiles

What about for baby showers?

Bath supplies

Where have you heard people are vacationing?

Costa Rica & Aspen, I haven’t heard of many people going out East.

What is your favorite date night spot with your husband?

Definitely Loquita!
