Menchaca Art + Chocolate Camp

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Here at Menchaca Chocolates we've been busy little Umpa Lumpas creating the very first Chocolate & Art CAMP in Santa Barbara. Four glorious Days Filled with pouring, rolling, molding, dipping and swirling fine healthy chocolate into all different kinds of delicious candy products. Our Young chocolatiers in their white aprons and Chef hats, will design their own chocolate company logo and graphics, as well as complete artful packaging for each product. We will learn how to mold chocolate bars, make ganache truffles, fill shelled chocolates and powder chocolate for custom hot chocolate, all while learning the ins and outs of how chocolate is made. From single origin sourcing, fermenting and roasting to winnowing, melanging and tempering, each camper will have a hands on experience in bean to bar chocolate making.

AGE (OR GRADE): 6/17/2023 - 6/20/2023 (9-10 yr.olds); 7/15/2023 - 7/18/2023 (10-12 yr.olds); 8/12/2023 - 8/15/2023 (12-15 yr. olds)

NOTES: Completed Products (projects) include:

1.) An acrylic painting of a cacao bean on the back side of a wooden tray filled with Chocolate and possibly a self portrait created with embedded edible toppings.
2.) A large wooden chocolate box hand decorated filled with bars that have been painted with cacao butter paint!
3.) A box of Truffles, clusters, barks and "dippables"
4.) Hand painted Logo design on Apron and Chef Hat.
5.) An edible chocolate 3-D sculpture

SAFETY INFO:

1) Does your camp run background checks on counselors and staff? Yes fully.
2) Do your counselors have accreditation and/or experience in the areas they are leading? Yes certified and currently teacher Art in public schools.
3) What is your camper to counselor ratio? 10 to 1 with 2 CITs per 10 kids.
4) Do you provide CPR/AED training for your counselors and staff? Yes we are all trained with First aid, snake bites, poison oak and inhaler training.

WE send out questionnaires for parents to list any allergies or things to be aware of per camper.
